CPA Exam pass rates, 2026

The share of candidates who passed each section, as published by the AICPA every quarter.

Source: AICPA — CPA Exam scoring and pass rates. Checked 17 October 2026.

The AICPA publishes each quarter's figures a few weeks after the quarter ends. Its reminder: the exam is scored against a fixed standard and isn't curved, so a higher pass rate means candidates were better prepared, not that the exam got easier.

What the numbers say

  • TCP has the highest pass rate so far in 2026 (79.53%), and FAR the lowest (42.95%).
  • Among the Core sections everyone must pass, AUD (48.65%) and FAR (42.95%) are passed by fewer than half of candidates.
  • Compared with 2025 overall, AUD, FAR, REG, BAR, TCP are up so far, and ISC down. Half-year figures can still move.
  • Pass rates describe everyone who sat a section, not you. Use them to plan how much time each section needs — the topic-by-topic study material and quick sheets are organised by section.

How scoring works

You need 75 to pass a section, on a scale of 0 to 99 — it is not a percentage of questions answered correctly. AUD, FAR, REG, BAR and TCP weight multiple-choice questions and task-based simulations equally; ISC is 60% multiple choice and 40% simulations. You take the three Core sections (AUD, FAR, REG) and one Discipline section of your choice (BAR, ISC or TCP).
